Steps for Control Panel Design and Assembly
Our customers typically possess advanced technical knowledge and clear specifications before they reach us. The process below reflects exactly how we take a project from initial drawings to a finished, delivery-ready unit through precision panel assembly.
- Design review. We begin by reviewing your engineering drawings and bill of materials (BOM). Our team resolves inconsistencies between layouts, wiring diagrams, and component specifications before production begins to prevent costly downstream rework. For projects requiring documentation, we provide in-house AutoCAD support.
- Enclosure preparation. Operators cut enclosures using our Steinhauer machine. This equipment produces clean, dimensionally accurate cutouts for operators, displays, and conduit. We also handle painting and engraving in-house. This keeps the full fabrication scope securely under one roof.
- Component mounting. Components mount onto the backplate following the approved layout. Our technicians build across the full spectrum of configurations, from compact push-button stations to massive multi-door cabinets. We factor in structural spacing, thermal load constraints, and long-term accessibility from the very beginning.
- Wire and testing. Automated wire processing machines precisely cut and strip the majority of the wire we install. Technicians execute point-to-point wiring to print with consistent termination torque, labeling, and ferrule installation. Each unit then undergoes functional verification. Nothing leaves our facility without passing a rigorous wire and testing check against the original drawings to confirm absolute accuracy.
- Delivery. Panel-Fab operates two shifts across a 100,000-square-foot facility. This capacity allows us to maintain standard lead times of 4 to 6 weeks, even for high-volume orders. We commit to aggressive production schedules by leveraging our internal resources to mitigate supply chain delays through in-house fabrication capabilities and supplier coordination.
Panel-Fab’s Control Panel Fabrication Services
Custom panels remain our core business. Our technicians build every project exactly to your specifications rather than forcing your requirements into off-the-shelf configurations.
Our control panel fabrication and control panel design work covers both electrical and pneumatic systems. We also provide additional services for customers who need more than a finished enclosure:
We build to UL 508A, UL 698A, ESA, CE, ETL, VDE, and Military Spec project requirements. Our portfolio spans data centers, food and beverage, logistics, warehousing, automotive, process control, and machine tool manufacturing. View our portfolio of work to see examples across diverse industries.
A single point of contact manages each project from kickoff through delivery. Customers are never bounced between departments or left chasing project updates.
